Warm in southern Italy & Mediterranean
An unsettled day for Spain and Portugal, as low pressure brings widespread areas of rain and thunderstorms. Showers too for the Balearics, Corsica and Sardinia. Thundery rain also spreads into southern France, and north-western parts of Italy. The rest of Italy is mostly dry and warm, apart from a few showers. Breezy for France, but away from the south it will be mostly dry and mild, but cloudy. Rain turning to snow for Switzerland. The odd shower for the Adriatic region, whilst Greece and Turkey and dry with some sunshine. Isolated heavy showers near Crete and Cyprus. Breezy and cool but dry for Germany. A little milder in the Low Countries, although quite a lot of cloud will persist. Eastern Europe is dry and cold overall, with an easterly breeze. A weak warm front brings cloudy skies to Austria, Hungary and Romania, with a little drizzle, and snow over the mountains. Dry and cool for Scandinavia, with occasional wintry flurries.
Low pressure continues to dominate south-western Europe, whilst high pressure resides across Russia and Scandinavia. Heavy rain affects southern and eastern Spain for many hours overnight and into Saturday, raising concerns for flooding here. Thundery showers for south-west Spain and southern Portugal, but brighter for north-west Iberia. Rain also extends into south-west France, although most of France stays dry but cloudy. Heavy showers for the Balearics. Fewer showers for Corsica, Sardinia and Italy, with decent amounts of sunshine and feeling warm. A few showers in the Balkan States. Dry with sunny spells for Greece and Turkey. An easterly breeze for Germany, Denmark and Poland will make it feel cool, although staying dry. Dry for Switzerland and Austria. Cloudy again for Hungary and Romania, with patchy light rain and mountain snow. Dry with occasional sunshine for Norway. Scattered light snow showers for Sweden and Finland. Cold in the Baltic States.
